Borden is a surname. "Lady Borden" was a joint product development between Meiji Dairies and Borden Inc in the USA.
But if you really wan to know what this surname means, it means "Boar's Valley" in Old English. So you really eating ice cream from milk of a pig!! LMAO :P
I think they took the idea for the name from Lizzie Borden...a horrible event that happened so i think it kinda refers to Lizzie Borden..even heard of "Lizzie Borden had an ax gave har father 40 whacks when she saw what she had done gave her mother 41"
They did NOT get it from Lizzie Borden. I do remember a very scary TV movie about her but she is not related to the company.

When I was younger, you could buy Borden ice cream but I haven't seen it in a long time. Borden also makes sweetened condensed milk which is good to use in baking (it's really good in pumpkin pie). The mascot is a drawing of cow named Elsie.
